Congratulations to Jim Meyer, winner of the 2014 Fall Laser Regatta.

LaserRegatta-low1a

Eleven lasers were on the race course in conditions that ranged from drifting to full hiking and planing conditions. Typically for Base Line Lake the winds shifted, died and filled in different areas of the course. Sailors found themselves gaining and losing eight to ten places. Jim Meyer was able to figure out his home waters to win four out five races. In second place in a tie breaker was Carey Jones edging out Lake Lansing sailor Hugh Blaxill. Lake George, Indiana sailors Jack Skiefel and Jeff Smith were tied in points for forth with Jack winning on the tie breaker. George Griswold ran another of his superb regattas having the sailors wait on shore until the winds filled in after the noon hour. He was able to get five races in before the time limit. Full results are posted in the racing section of the web site. The next Michigan Sailing Club Regatta is scheduled for Sunday October 26, ‘The Bone Chiller’. This regatta is open to all classes of boats under 18′ in length under the Portsmouth handicap system and is one of the most fun or our sailing season.
