Folks,
We ran our 2024 Dan Rice Regatta yesterday under good wind and weather conditions, winds 7-12 mph (ave) with higher gusts, temps in the 70s and some sun. We had a field of up to 9 competitors, though we had a few drop out as the gusts were at one point capsizing multiplied boats at a time. We even had one crew snag the starting line mark (the pin) during the race, which seems like an odd strategy call. :-). (That was an accident of course.)
Congratulations go to our top three finishing boats,
1. Paul T. and Rachel G. (Albacore)
2. Ovidiu and Matt B. (M15)
3. Carey and Joy (M15)
As the top finishing club boat, Ovidiu and Matt will have their names engraved on our Dan Rice Regatta trophy. The complete results are attached.
Thanks go out especially to George and Nina for operating a first class RC boat, Bob & Charlie for photography and helping me set marks on the safety boat and Anna for providing a tasty lunch (on a day that she was also racing!). And of course, thank you to all who came out and raced. Our regattas only work with volunteers and racers.
Our next regatta is this coming Sunday, 2 June, the Spring Sunfish.
Jim
Special thanks to Bob F. for these photos!
