Basic Rating Sailing Test

DETAILS:

While we will try to track your progress throughout your Basic Rating, we don't always know when you are actually ready for your Sailing Test. In an effort to help facilitate getting you signed off, we have created this page. If you are here, you should have already been through a "Learning Opportunity" course and hopefully have been proactive enough to come out during our Practice Sessions to perfect the skills you learned. Signing up here will help us pair you up with someone who can give you your test once you are finally ready!

Do NOT sign up unless you:

1. Are a current member in good standing.
2. Have completed ALL of your Basic Rating sign-offs except for the Sailing Test.
3. Are actually ready for the sailing test AND;
   • You have had sufficient practice in a boat during a dedicated "Practice Session" OR during Open Sailing with the permission of the Helm/Skipper AND;
   • You have practiced each procedure required AND can execute them correctly.

Sailing test components include: Departure, Steering, Safety Position, Points of Sail, Getting Out of Irons, Tacking, Jibing, Overboard Recovery, Right of Way, and Docking.
