Trapezing with Patrick

TRAPEZING WITH PATRICK

2025

Are you interested in learning how to sail with the precision footwork of a ninja? Ready to experience the thrill of hanging off the edge of a boat while “on the wire”?

DETAILS:
This course will focus on trapezing demonstration followed by practical experience on land and then in shallow water while stationary. Depending on how well you progress in the initial stage, we will attempt to acclimate you to altitude by raising the hull out of the water slowly while trapezing which will mentally prepare you for actual trapeze sailing all while in a safe and controlled environment. There may be limited opportunity to attempt several “live” passes for a few students but conditions must be right and time and wind will both be the limiting factors. Acquiring this skill, may take you several sessions for you to master. Once you have the basic concept, on land practice during your own time is encouraged to prepare for later trapezing sessions followed by live sailing with the instructor.

WHEN:
There is no set schedule. Each instructional period will be announced via the “Members Only” email list a few days ahead of time. It will likely be in the evening hours during the week depending on instructor availability.

WHO:
There is NO age requirement for this course. Children, families, and adults are ALL welcome and encouraged to participate. Repeat students are also most welcome, however, preference will be given to those that have not had the chance to try in a previous session. Any live sailing will preference those who have attained the balance required either naturally or through self practice on their own time.

CAVEAT:
Please keep in mind when employing the skills learned in this course, that Club Rule #14 prohibits actual sailing with a trapeze harness unless a Helm or Skipper is in the boat with you or you have explicit Skipper permission.
