Rigging Instructions
We have standardized most of our Laser equipment so when you go to rig the Lasers, they should all be roughly the same. All gear is located in the boat and all the masts are outside on the rack. Please make sure to properly store and wash your boat when finished for the day. Each boat has it’s own cover. Please make sure the cover in installed properly before leaving for the day.
MSC Official Laser Rigging Guide
The following videos* should help you understand how to properly rig the Laser sailboat. Special thanks to Jane for taking the time to show us:
*Please Note: The boat setup has changed slightly from the time the videos were taken. Use the Laser Rigging Guide for specific reference after watching the videos.
- Part 1: Proper preparation.
- Part 2: Putting the sail on the mast.
- Part 3: Stepping the mast, Cunningham, & Boom preparation. (The Cunningham in this video is slightly different than our new standard. View the rigging guide above for guidance)
- Part 4: Boom & Vang setup.
- Part 5: Mast attachment (short). Simply tie the line around the mast over the Vang and back through the bracket at the base of the boat. This will prevent the mast from detaching from the boat during a capsize.
- Part 6: Vang key, clew, rudder, & main sheet attachment.
- Part 7: Centerboard, launching, & main sheet.
- Part 8: Finishing the main sheet.
