PROPER FIT
With a standard PFD, have someone pull up on the PFD shoulders. If it moves up past your nose or head, tighten the straps. If it still moves up, the PFD is too large. A properly sized PFD should be snug and fit like a glove, yet allow you to move freely and not chafe while paddling and playing.
WHERE TO BUY
- Wonderland Marine West: As of 7/16/21 they are fully stocked on adult and children’s life jackets (10 minute drive from the club on Portage Lake).
- You may also find life jackets at Costco, Dick’s, or other sporting goods stores though availability may vary depending on the season.
CLUB PFD’S
- The club has a limited number of communal PFDs available for you to borrow if you are unable to obtain your own properly fitted PFD. Please note, shared life jackets are NOT cleaned and sanitized.

WATER SHOES
- We also highly recommend purchasing water shoes. The shells along the shore are very sharp and can easily result in cuts. It is also a good idea to wear shoes in the sailboats to protect your feet.
