2023 Fall Laser Regatta Photos

Folks,

We had another successful Fall Laser Regatta today. The Sun and temperatures cooperated, with mostly sunny skies and low 70s F. We had a nice turn out, with 13 boats, about half from outside MSC. I think it is great that we were able to host so many guest competitors.

The wind, well, that was a different story. After postponing until 10:45am, we decided to make a go of it. Just as we got out there, the wind basically disappeared. We literally sat for 30 min nearly still most of the time (really). Once we finally had enough wind to set a course, we started racing. There were some periods of good sailing but the wind was very up and down all day. I didn’t have a wind meter in the mark boat, but I would estimate that we had winds of 4-7 mph for 15 min out of each of the 2.5 hours, with times all the way down to zero in between. I think our sailors still had some fun though.

Our top three finishers were as follows:

1. Craig Pearson
2. Jim Meyer
3. Rick Lyons (PYC)

I want to especially thank our volunteers, George (PRO), Donna (RC secretary), Michelle (RC secretary helper), Uli (jon boat helper), Rachel (photos!) and Commodore Jeff for helping out with marks later on.

Special thanks to Rachel G. for taking these photos!!
