The 2024 Season is Underway!
A hearty THANK YOU to all who came to the club and helped launch our season today. And, THANK YOU to those who agreed to lead activities today.
Fortunately, the dock was already “in”, thanks to a small group who moved the floating dock out to its position earlier in the week when the wind was calm. The aluminum standing dock was put in by the UM team in March.
The boathouse has been given the once over cleaning and is absolutely sparkling. OK, maybe an exaggeration but it looks great.
Most of the boats are out on the lawn now and some are still on the rack in the woods until the team boats get put away. This season we are going to try to keep a few boats on the rack in the woods unless needed. This will free up space on the lawn and keep things neat. The Melges 15s are mostly rigged but still need a final check over. If you haven’t attended a M15 rigging/derigging session yet, please try to attend one if you intend to sail the M15 this season. We want all M15 sailors on the same page to keep rigging quick and consistent.
A special thanks to those who stuck around and cleaned up the remaining piles of stuff.
*Now, an appeal to all our membership; please do your best to keep the club looking ShipShape™ this season. When you come to the club, leave it the same or better than you found it! We depend on member volunteers to keep the club working and looking good (it also keeps our dues low).
Again, THANK YOU to everyone who made this a successful event. Attached is the photo we took before lunch. I look forward to seeing everyone this 87th season of the Michigan Sailing Club.
Fair winds and following seas,
Jeff Kaloustian
